Texas Education Code § 41.097 Credit For Appraisal Costs

Sec. 41.097. CREDIT FOR APPRAISAL COSTS. (a) The total amount required under Section 41.093 for a district to purchase attendance credits under this subchapter for any school year is reduced by an amount equal to the product of the district's total costs under Section 6.06, Tax Code, for the appraisal district or districts in which it participates multiplied by a percentage that is computed by dividing the total amount required under Section 41.093 by the total amount of taxes imposed in the district for that year less any amounts paid into a tax increment fund under Chapter 311, Tax Code.

(b) A school district is entitled to a reduction under Subsection (a) beginning with the 1996-1997 school year. For that school year, the reduction to which a district is entitled is the sum of the amounts computed under Subsection (a) for the 1993-1994, 1994-1995, 1995-1996, and 1996-1997 school years. If that amount exceeds the total amount required under Section 41.093 for the 1996-1997 school year, the difference is carried forward and the total amount required under Section 41.093 is reduced each subsequent school year until the total amount of the credit has been applied to such reductions.
