§ 3.1-684.2. (Repealed effective October 1, 2008) Declaration of public interest; definitions
Subject to § 3.1-684.9, the General Assembly hereby declares it to be in the public interest that farmers producing soybeans be permitted to express in a separate advisory referendum whether assessments should be levied upon soybeans, with revenues therefrom to be used in encouraging an expanded program of research, education, publicity, and the promotion of the sale and use of soybeans. The word "farmer," as used herein, shall include all producers of soybeans in this Commonwealth as defined in § 3.1-684.5. The word "county" shall include also cities and towns in which soybeans are a source of income.
