§ 24.2-419. Extended time for certain persons to register by mail
The registration application of the following persons may accompany an application for an absentee ballot and shall be on a form prescribed by the State Board or on a Federal Post Card Application:
1. Any member of a uniformed service of the United States, as defined in 42 U.S.C. § 1973ff-6 (7), who is on active duty;
2. Any member of the merchant marine of the United States;
3. Any spouse or dependent residing with a person listed in subdivisions 1 or 2; and
4. Any person temporarily residing outside the United States.
The registration application from a person listed in subdivisions 1, 2 and 3 of this section may be accepted notwithstanding the provisions of § 24.2-416 if they are eligible to be registered and if, by reason of active duty, they are normally absent from the city or county in which they reside.
