Appeal No. 96-1823 Application No. 08/187,521 BACKGROUND The appellant's invention relates to a putter having vibration damping material in the shaft. Claims 1 and 5 are representative of the subject matter on appeal and a copy of those claims, as they appear in the appendix to the examiner's answer, is attached to this decision. The prior art references of record relied upon by the examiner as evidence of obviousness under 35 U.S.C. § 103 are: Bills, Jr. 3,083,969 Apr. 2, 1963 (Bills) Okumoto et al. 5,007,643 Apr. 16, 1991 (Okumoto) Fry 2,200,560 Aug. 10, 1988 (United Kingdom) Claims 1 through 6 stand rejected under 35 U.S.C. § 103 as being unpatentable over Bills in view of Fry and Okumoto.
