If it is not unique, the next on the list is tried and so on.” (page 12-lines 15- 17). “In some instances this may be enough, however, in order to accommodate the broad variation in system configurations, this initial choice needs to be checked....the present invention accomplishes this through the use of common commands in several unique manners.” (page 12, lines 27-32, emphasis added). Finally, at page 15, lines 6-9, the specification states “Earlier, it was mentioned that the routine used to assess if the chosen address is unique is an escalating routine. By this it is meant that the routine next executes commands which have an even higher probability of discovering a conflict.” (emphasis added).
