A path verification process is next performed to ensure the integrity of the newly repaired path. Once the integrity of the repaired path is confirmed, each of the tandem nodes is commanded to perform their inverse operations to disconnect cross-connected ports within the tandem nodes. Claim 1, which is representative for our purposes, follows: 1.
