Appeal No. 1999-1044 Application No. 08/778,392 The appellant's invention relates to a post-mounted sign holder. An understanding of the invention can be derived from a reading of exemplary claim 1, which appears in the appendix to the appellant's brief (Paper No. 11). The prior art references of record relied upon by the examiner in rejecting the appealed claims are: Neuendorf et al. 5,088,672 Feb. 18, 1992 (Neuendorf) Schmanski et al. 5,189,822 Mar. 2, 1993 (Schmanski) Claims 1, 12 and 14 stand rejected under 35 U.S.C. § 103 as being unpatentable over Neuendorf in view of Schmanski. Rather than reiterate the conflicting viewpoints advanced by the examiner and the appellant regarding the above-noted rejection, we make reference to the answer (Paper No. 12) for the examiner's complete reasoning in support of the rejection, and to the brief for the appellant's arguments thereagainst.
