Appeal No. 1998-0888 Application 08/314,036 This is a decision on appeal under 35 U.S.C. § 134 from the final rejection of claims 1-6 and 9. We reverse. BACKGROUND The disclosed invention is directed to a flat panel field emission device (FED) and, more particularly, to the use of multiple emitter (cathode) plates and a single anode to create a large FED display. Claim 1 is reproduced below. 1. A large display electron emission apparatus comprising: a memory; at least one microprocessor coupled to said memory; a controller coupled to said microprocessor; at least two row drivers and at least two column drivers coupled to said controller; at least two emitter plates coupled to said row and column drivers; and a single anode coupled to said emitter plates.
