The subject matter on appeal relates to a method of
manufacturing a sheet of nickel based alloy 718. Further
details of this appealed subject matter are recited in
illustrative claim 6 reproduced below:
6. A method of manufacturing a sheet of nickel
based alloy 718, comprising:
casting said alloy;
solution heat treating said alloy;
precipitation heat treating said alloy;
cold rolling said alloy at a rolling ratio of
greater than 60%; and
recrystallization heat treating said alloy
thereby forming an alloy with a grain size of at
most 10 µm;
