Appeal No. 2001-2542 Application No. 09/000,760 The executable module of Radziewicz, which is installed on the client device, serves only to passively provide a window on the client device for displaying advertisements sent from a network when the communications line is idle. This module plays no role in retrieving the data or in controlling its presentation to the user. Hashimoto discloses nothing more than a computer system in which a client device can retrieve and display document information from a network. The examiner proposes to provide this retrieval and display feature to Radziewicz even though Radziewicz already controls the information which will be displayed to the user.
