DECISION ON APPEAL
A patent examiner rejected claims 1-13. The appellant appeals therefrom under
35 U.S.C. § 134(a). We affirm-in-part.
BACKGROUND
The invention at issue on appeal concerns calibrating the "force constant" of a
voice coil motor ("VCM") of a disc drive. The disc drive includes a base, at least one
disc rotatably attached to the base, and an actuator assembly movably attached to the
base. At least one transducer is attached to one end of the actuator assembly. A voice
coil, which forms part of the VCM, is attached to the other end of the actuator assembly.
