Our review of Bhattacharjya confirms that the reference relates to a method for generating a color lookup table based on a smaller number of measured values (abstract). Bhattacharjya discloses that various color peripheral devices, such as scanners and printers, operate in different color spaces (col. 1, lines 37-61) and produce images in which colors appear different col. 2, lines 60-67). The reference overcomes this problem by system color calibration which is a process of mapping the scanner color signals to the printer color signals using a three-dimensional lookup table (col. 3, lines 14-23). Although Bhattacharjya provides a method of calibrating that includes generating a set of sample points, performing non-linear interpolation and augmenting the sample points, the converted data, as argued by Appellants (brief, pages 11), is still in the same color space as before the conversion (Figure 6, col. 15, lines 4-10).
