Appeal No. 2006-1931 Application No. 10/305,201 disputed that the reaction product of the example cited by the Examiner does meet the requirements of components A and B of the claimed invention. Moreover, EP '467 discloses the formation of aqueous adhesives. Second, the claimed invention is open to the inclusion of other components in the adhesive composition. There is no requirement that the formed reaction product be the sole source of the composition=s adhesive properties. Regarding claims 19, 20, 33, 34, and 43, the Examiner acknowledges that EP '467 does not recite products within the realm of these claims. (Answer, page 12). As such, to the extent that the claims have been rejected over EP '467 alone this rejection is reversed. Appellants' arguments regarding claims 28 and 29 (Brief, pp. 6 and 7) are not persuasive because the claims are not limited to the scope of Appellants' arguments. In particular, the claims are not limited to the reaction of unsaturated groups in a fatty acid with a maleic anhydride. The subject matter of these claims read on the teachings of EP '467 identified by the Examiner in the Answer.
