Appeal 2006-2343 Application 10/246,620 Keller Figure 1 is depicted below: View of the right side of Figure 1 showing the roll of punched adhesive ribbon described by Keller The punched hole in the roll of Keller is in the shape of an outline of an incomplete heart, there being an unsevered portion at 20 (Keller, col. 4, ll. 23-27) and an internal portion which will later be pulled up to become stand up portion 19. The punched hole 18 has a long irregular shape and a very narrow width, but such is not precluded by claim 1. There is another aspect of the punched hole argued by Appellants. That is, Appellants argue that claim 1 requires the hole extend through the base film and the adhesive. We agree. Such is explicitly required by claim 1. However, Keller describes die cutting through both the ribbon and adhesive layers and, therefore, meets this limitation of the claim.
