BACKGROUND
The appellants’ invention relates to a pouch with a straw hole and a straw
hole seal material. Claim 1 is reproduced below.
1. A pouch with a straw hole for inserting a straw
therein, the pouch comprising:
a pouch front-side film with a straw hole having a
predetermined circumference;
a straw hole seal material for sealing the straw hole
positioned on the back side of the straw hole having a
predetermined circumference that is sized to sufficiently
cover the straw hole, wherein said straw hole seal material is
first temporarily heat sealed to said pouch front-side film
and then permanently heat sealed to the pouch front-side
film over the straw hole, such that the temporary heat seal
and permanent heat seal each have a heat seal width around
the straw hole and the predetermined circumference of said
seal material is slightly larger than the temporary heat seal
width around the straw hole.
