Appeal No. 2006-0965 Application No. 10/827,051 BACKGROUND The appellants’ invention relates to a clamping device that may be specially adapted for use in sealing together the components of mass flow controllers such as those used in the manufacture of semiconductor devices (Spec. p.3). An understanding of the invention can be derived from a reading of exemplary claim 24, which is reproduced below. A position maintainer for a workpiece, comprising: a biasing device configured to exert a compression force along an axis; a surface across from said biasing device along said axis and configured to oppose said compression force; and a plurality of stoppers switchably exclusively interposed between said surface and said biasing device along said axis.
