          1         Claim 1 under appeal reads as follows:                                           
          2         1.  A gaming method comprising:                                                  
          3                                                                                          
          4               displaying results of a primary game, first ones of said                   
          5         results representing an award to a player, second ones of said                   
          6         results representing an opportunity to play a secondary game,                    
          7         said secondary game comprising at least a first display of a first               
          8         selector of first indicia and an additional display of at least one              
          9         additional selector of additional indicia, wherein said first                    
         10         selector and said at least one additional selector comprise                      
         11         adjacent concentric rings that are concurrently displayed on a                   
         12         single video monitor;                                                            
         13                                                                                          
         14               if said results of said primary game comprise said second                  
         15         ones of said results, displaying activation of said first selector               
         16         of first indicia, some of said first indicia representing award                  
         17         amounts and at least one of said first indicia representing that                 
         18         said at least one additional selector of additional indicia is to                
         19         select an award to a player, said additional indicia representing,               
         20         on average, awards higher than awards represented by said first                  
         21         indicia;                                                                         
         22                                                                                          
         23               if said at least one of said first indicia is selected,                    
         24         displaying activation of the one of said at least one additional                 
         25         selector that is directly adjacent the first selector for selecting              
         26         said additional indicia; and                                                     
         27                                                                                          
         28         displaying an award to a player represented by selection of said                 
         29         first indicia or said additional indicia.

         33         The Examiner rejected claims 1, 2, 4, 8 to 11, 13, 14, 16, 20 to 23, 26,         
         34   27, 29, 33 to 36 and 38 under 35 U.S.C. § 103(a)  as being unpatentable over           
         35   Baerlocher in view of Mangano.
