THE INVENTION
The Appellants claim an easy-open closure arrangement for a bulk
item package and claim a bag comprising the easy-open closure
arrangement. Claim 1 is illustrative:
1. An easy-open closure arrangement for a bulk item
package consisting essentially of:
a base web having a pair of longitudinal edges, a pair of
spaced perforated tear lines extending between said longitudinal
edges, said perforated tear lines including perforations
extending completely through said base web;
a frangible layer attached to one side of said base web
overlying said perforations thereby preventing passage of
material through said perforations; and
a tear bead positioned between said tear lines attached to
said frangible layer on a side of said frangible layer opposite
from said base web.

THE REJECTIONS
Claims 1, 3-6 and 8 stand rejected under 35 U.S.C. § 103 as being
