This reduces the drudgery of retyping data, increases accuracy and gives convenient access to bank information at any time, not just when the statement arrives. (¶ 26). 22. Beamer describes Dollars & Sense as a home accounting program that keeps track of personal finances (¶ 1 and 6). 23. Beamer also describes the following with respect to home accounting software programs: Grooming your files at the end of the year is a must. If your accounts balance at the end of the year, you are in pretty good shape but transactions can still be in the wrong categories. At tax time it is necessary to review all transactions one by one, making sure that each is in the correct category and correctly marked as taxable or nontaxable.
