               Application 10/995,295

                  6. Meyer teaches that the decoding process forwards an identifier
extracted from the media file to the communications application, a
web browser. Further, the decoder or the communications application
may add additional context information (information related to the
user requesting the additional data) to the message sent to the server.
                      (Col. 5, ll. 3-10).
                  7. Montulli teaches a method of transferring state information between a
client computer and a server computer. (Abstract).
                  8. In the system using Montulli’s method, the server sends the state
information to the client which then stores the state information. For
example, in a virtual shopping environment, when the user selects a
product, the server sends state information related to the product to be
stored by the client machine, this information is then sent back to the
server when the user checks out and purchases the product. (Col. 2, ll.
                      30-35, 57-65).
                  9. Montulli refers to the file that transfers the state information as a
cookie file. The cookie also includes information describing the range
of URLs for which information should be repeated back. (Col. 7, ll.
                      15-25).
                  10. A client computer using Montulli’s method will, before sending a
request for a particular web page, check the cookie list to see if there
are any cookies that need to accompany the request to that particular
                      server. (Col. 9, ll. 47-57).
