Cash Expenditures and Cashier's Checks During the years in issue, petitioners had substantial amounts of cash at their disposal, and Mr. Karcho frequently used cash and cashier's checks to carry on his personal affairs. On or about June 4, 1988, Mr. Karcho purchased an automobile in exchange for which he provided another automobile and $14,000 in cash.
