                                 1. A method for modifying surfaces to facilitate oil removal, consisting                                                        
                                     essentially of:                                                                                                             
                                          selecting a surface to be modified;                                                                                    
                                          immobilizing a lipase onto the surface, the lipase being isolatable                                                    
                                          from a Pseudomonas organism.
