Appeal No. 97-2621 Application 08/432,442 Claim 1 stands finally rejected under 35 U.S.C. § 102(b) as being anticipated by Chen. Claim 2 stands finally rejected under 35 U.S.C. § 103 as being unpatentable over Chen. The Invention The invention is directed to an inline electron gun including three cathodes and three consecutive electrodes G1, G2, and G3. The G2 electrode has two linear projections protruding in the inline direction of apertures located on the electrode and the projections extend past an apertured portion of the G3 electrode in an overlapping relationship therewith. Independent claim 1 reads as follows: 1.
