Appeal No. 97-2764 Application No. 08/354,018 The appellant's invention relates to a radio frequency tracking system in which a position of an object is estimated by averaging the strengths of signals transmitted by the object to a number of receivers. Claim 22 is illustrative of the claimed invention, and it reads as follows: 22. A system for estimating a position of an object, comprising: a transmitter, disposed on said object, which transmits signals; a plurality of receivers which receive the signals transmitted by the transmitter; and means for estimating a position of said object by averaging strengths of the signals received by at least some of said plurality of receivers.
