               This is an appeal from the final rejection of claims 43                
          and 45 through 54.                                                          
               The disclosed invention relates to a method and apparatus              
          for reproducing information from a disc.  An active squelch                 
          signal is used to prevent output of audio information at                    
          distinct times.
