Appeal No. 2001-2351 Application No. 08/772,443 1. A disk array controller, comprising: a peripheral interface control regulating data transfers from a peripheral to a bus; a data buffer control regulating data transfers from the bus to a data buffer; a host interface control regulating data transfers from the bus to a host system; and a snooping circuit, wherein the snooping circuit monitors the bus for data transfers from the bus to the data buffer and determines if a current data transfer on the bus matches a requested data transfer, wherein, in response to a determination that the current data transfer on the bus matches a requested data transfer, the host interface control initiates a transfer of data that is part of the current data transfer from the bus to the host system without requiring transfer of the data using the data buffer. The reference relied upon by the examiner is: Parks et al. (Parks) 5,623,700 Apr. 22, 1997 (filed Apr. 06, 1994) Claims 1, 3, 4, 9, 11, 12, 17-23, 26 and 31-34 stand rejected under 35 U.S.C. § 102(e) as anticipated by Parks.
