Appeal No. 2002-0831 Application 08/250,286 machine adapted for use in an appliance. More specifically, the disclosed invention relates to the control of the machine using a microcontroller having memory means which stores operating characteristic information associated with a plurality of different appliance environments. The operating characteristics of the machine associated with different appliance environments can be adjusted based on data entered by the user through a switch means after the machine has been installed in the appliance or by a programming means attachable to the microcontroller and removable therefrom.
