disclosed therein to the plastic bearing section of the German
grinding disc. Instead, the appellant (see pages 7 and 8 in the
brief) challenges the rejection on the basis of alleged
deficiencies in the perforated metal strip 1 disclosed by the
German reference. This line of argument is unpersuasive,
however, because it is not commensurate with the actual scope of
the claims.
Therefore, we shall sustain the standing 35 U.S.C. § 103(a)
rejection of claims 55 through 58 as being unpatentable over the
German reference in view of Ries.
NEW GROUNDS OF REJECTION
The following rejections are entered pursuant to 37 CFR
§ 1.196(b).
Claim 60 is rejected under 35 U.S.C. § 103(a) as being
unpatentable over the German reference in view of the admitted
prior art.
The grinding disc disclosed by the German reference meets
all of the limitations in claim 60 except for those requiring the
metal ring to be selected from the group consisting of copper and
bronze, and the abrasive coating to have a maximum radial
thickness of 3 mm.
