DECISION ON APPEAL
This appeal was taken from the examiner’s decision rejecting claims 1 through
23, which are all of the claims pending in the application.
The Invention
Methadone is a well known opioid agonist, widely used in alleviating chronic pain
and in treating opioid addiction. Methadone, as typically used, is a racemic mixture of
the l- and d- isomers (specification, page 1, lines 15 through 18).
