             order to illustrate a news story; the story is set out in a script to accompany the                     
             sequence.  The video sequence must be of a desired duration; the script must match                      
             the sequence; and scenes within the sequence must be being matched with sections of                     
             the script.  Once a draft sequence has been assembled, and a draft script has been                      
             written, the appellants desire to check that the script matches the sequence.  (Spec. at                
             1.)                                                                                                     


                    Accordingly, the appellants' editing system stores a video sequence and text                     
             associated therewith.  As shown in Figure 1 of the appellants' specification, the video                 
             and text are displayed side-by-side.  Time codes are associated with the frames of the                  
             video sequence.  Corresponding time codes are associated with the text based on the                     
             time codes of the video sequence and the rate at which words of the text are read.  The                 
             current position in the text can be controlled based on the time code of the video                      
             frames; and the video frame displayed can be controlled based on the current position                   
             in the text.  A cursor indicates the current position in text.  (Id., abs.)
