Appellants argue that "Labs # 6 and 7" (i.e., Learning Blocks Nos. 6 and 7) relied upon by the examiner "are not work-related projects--rather they are continued instructions to the student" (Br5). The examiner responds that there is no specific definition of a "work-related project" in the specification and gives the term the definition of "a task or problem completed by at least one student to supplement and apply classroom studies, where the classroom studies and the task or problem are connected to the labor, task or duty that define the student's accustomed means of livelihood" (EA7). The examiner finds that the classroom materials are directed to the specific operation of welding equipment and a project must relate to the performance of the welding task. The examiner finds that the welding simulation in, for example, Fig. 4G, requires the student to apply instructional information from the classroom training (EA7). The welding training course in Brush includes both quizes (question parts) and simulations with a simulated welding torch.
