                                       DECISION ON APPEAL                                                      
                   This is an appeal from the final rejection of claims 1, 7 through 9 and 20.                 
                   The disclosed invention relates to a microscope for viewing samples                         
             stereoscopically or compoundly aided by either brightfield or fluorescent illumination.           
                   Claim 1 is the only independent claim on appeal, and it reads as follows:                   
                   1.  A microscope for viewing samples stereoscopically or compoundly, said                   
             microscope comprising:                                                                            
                   a stereo objective;                                                                         
                   a compound objective;
