Appeal No. 2006-1203 Application No. 10/370,976 application, the antenna comprises a first element (702, 703) connected to a signal feed (705) and having a resonant frequency in a first frequency band and a second element (704, 708) connected to the ground (707) and having a resonant frequency in a second frequency band (specification, pages 11-12). An understanding of the invention can be derived from a reading of exemplary independent claim 1 which is reproduced as follows: 1. A dual-band antenna for a portable device, comprising: a first element having a resonant frequency in a first frequency band; and a second element having a resonant frequency in a second frequency band, wherein the first element is connected to a signal feed, wherein the second element is grounded, and wherein the dual-band antenna is integrated within a portable device.
