Appeal No. 2006-1652 Application No. 10/011,583 is movable with the structure during expansion thereof and is capable of substantial sealing engagement with a wall of a blood vessel to interrupt blood flow therethrough and is non- inflatable between contracted and expanded configurations. Claim 13 is similar to claim 6 and further requires that the structure is braided. Chu discloses catheters for draining that are to be placed in a body organ or vessel for a prolonged period of time (col. 1, lines 5-8). To prevent retrograde movement out of the organ or vessel, the catheter includes a multi-shapeable, flexible woven mesh tube disposed between the proximal and distal ends of the catheter (col. 1, lines 24-29). The woven tube is foraminous and axially and radially elastically extensible, and allows free and unobstructed flow of fluids therethrough (col. 2, lines 52-56; col. 4, lines 1-3). Guenther discloses a triple catheter comprising outer, intermediate and inner catheters for removing blood clots from arteries and veins (abstract; col. 1, lines 6-13). The intermediate catheter has a mesh or weave of spring wires or elastic plastic monofilaments that is covered by or embedded in an elastic plastic material (col. 2, lines 29-33). The coating or embedding matrix material “prevents damage to the inner walls of the blood vessel and also prevents the radial leaking of 3Page: Previous 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 NextLast modified: November 3, 2007
