            Application No. 10/301,394

            The claimed invention relates to a wireless network including a cluster head
            network and a sensor/actuator network with the sensor/actuator network arranged in a
            hierarchical manner with the cluster head network. The cluster head network includes
            at least one cluster head and the sensor/actuator network includes a plurality of
            sensor/actuator nodes arranged in a plurality of node levels.
                  Claim 1 is illustrative of the invention and reads as follows:
                  1.  A wireless network, comprising:
                  a cluster head network having a plurality of cluster heads; and
                  a sensor/actuator network arranged in a hierarchical manner with the cluster
            head network and having a plurality of sensor/actuator nodes arranged in a plurality of
            node levels and being self-organizing;
                  wherein information about an entire sensor/actuator network topology is
            maintained at each of the cluster heads in a time synchronized manner and all
            sensor/actuator nodes are synchronized with respect to the cluster head network.
