Appeal 2006-3408 Application 10/885,524 invention was made. Each of the elements of Titterton, Montano, and Fields or De Forrest combined by the Examiner performs the same function when combined as it does in the prior art. Thus, such a combination would have yielded predictable results. See Sakraida, 425 U.S. at 282, 189 USPQ at 453. Claim 13 is a combination which only unites old elements with no change in their respective functions and which yields predictable results. Thus, the claimed subject matter likely would have been obvious under KSR. In addition, neither Appellants’ Specification nor Appellants’ arguments present any evidence that the addition of an LED lock status indicator to a motorcycle wheel disk lock reminder system is uniquely challenging or difficult for one of ordinary skill in the art. Moreover, the LED lock status indicators of Fields or De Forrest are techniques that have been used to improve certain devices (the door locks of Fields or De Forrest), and one of skill in the art would recognize that they would improve similar devices in the same manner. Because Appellants have not shown that the application of the LED lock status indicator of Fields or De Forrest to the motorcycle wheel disk lock reminder system of the combination of Titterton and Montano would have been beyond the skill of one of skill in the art, we find using the techniques would have been obvious.
