Appeal 2007-1498 Application 09/944,776 A concise explanation of the subject matter defined in each of the independent claims involved in the appeal, which shall refer to the specification by page and line number, and to the drawing, if any, by reference characters. For each independent claim involved in the appeal and for each dependent claim argued separately under the provisions of paragraph (c)(1)(vii) of this section, every means plus function and step plus function as permitted by 35 U.S.C. 112, sixth paragraph, must be identified and the structure, material, or acts described in the specification as corresponding to each claimed function must be set forth with reference to the specification by page and line number, and to the drawing, if any, by reference characters. IV. ANALYSIS Here, claims 15, 16, 19, and 20 comprise means-plus-function elements. On page 11, of the Brief, Appellants separately address the Examiner’s rejection of claim 15. In addressing the cited claims, the Summary of the Claimed Subject Matter, on pages 3 and 4 of the Brief, Appellants cite to Figures 7, 8 and pages 3 through 13 of the Specification. Particularly, at pages 3 and 4 of the Brief, Appellants’ Summary states the following: Independent claim 15 is directed to a system for allocating resources to accommodate I/O transactions at the I/O ports of a multiprocessor computer.
