Appeal 2007-1868 Application 10/441,682 INVENTION The invention is directed to a detector array of use in an imaging system, such as, X-ray, fluoroscopy, etc. The detector array includes a plurality of scintillators. See page 2 of Appellants’ Specification. Claim 1 is representative of the invention and reproduced below: 1. A detector array comprising: an MxN array of scintillator elements, said array of scintillator elements defining a plurality of outermost scintillator elements; an air gap defined between adjacent said scintillator elements; and a mechanism for maintaining a relative position of each of said array of scintillator elements with respect to each of said array of scintillator elements, said mechanism including at least a retainer received about a perimeter of said array of scintillator elements, said retainer spanning at least a portion of a height of said array of scintillator elements.
