Appeal 2007-2175 Application 10/315,464 Furthermore, the mandrel of Jahn cannot reasonably be interpreted as a mixer as claimed. We cannot agree that the mandrel is capable of mixing fibrous and resin materials as those words are used in the claim. A mixer is “a device that blends or mixes substances or ingredients, especially by mechanical agitation.” The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, (4th Ed., 2006) (Retrieved July 29, 2007 from Dictionary.com website). Appellants use a fan to blend or mix loose fibers with binder powder. The fan blades are mechanical agitators. The mandrel of Jahn does not mix substances or ingredients, it only receives them. III. CONCLUSION The Examiner has not provided adequate reasoning in support of the obviousness rejection. IV. DECISION The decision of the Examiner is reversed.
