                 II.    Findings of Fact ("FF")                                                                                            
                        The following findings of fact are supported by a preponderance of                                                 
                 the evidence of record.  To the extent any "finding of fact" is a conclusion of                                           
                 law, it should be so treated.                                                                                             
                        A.     Appellants' Specification                                                                                   
                  [1] Paper-faced foam boardstocks are said to be known in the art, e.g., for                                              
                        use in structural siding products (Spec., p. 1, l. 8 - p. 2, l. 10).                                               
                  [2] Paper-faced foams are also said to require moisture resistance for                                                   
                        structural integrity (Specification, p. 1, ll. 22-24).                                                             
                  [3] Impregnating a paper facer of the foam product with silane, preferably                                               
                        an organosilane such as methyltrichlorosilane, is said to provide the                                              
                        product with waterproof properties and resistance to delamination and                                              
                        dimensional changes with aging and exposure to adverse weather                                                     
                        conditions (Specification, p. 12, ll. 1-5).                                                                        
                  [4] The foam core of the product may be formed of rigid                                                                  
                        polyisocyanurate foam (Specification, p. 4, ll. 19-22).                                                            
                        B.     Geary                                                                                                       
                  [5] Geary discloses a composite board comprising a filled                                                                
                        polyisocyanurate foam center board and facers of cellulosic materials,                                             
                        e.g., paper or cardboard, reinforced with glass strands and/or glass                                               
                        fibers, mated with the upper and lower surfaces of the center board                                                
                        (Geary, p. 2, ¶ 27; p. 3, ¶¶ 32-33; Fig. 1).                                                                       
                  [6] The Examiner found that Geary does not disclose treating the paper                                                   
                        facers with silane (Sub. Answer, 3).
