-155- 3. Experts Appointed by the Court The Court-appointed experts are J. Darrell Duffie (Duffie) and Barry S. Sziklay (Sziklay). Duffie was appointed by the Court as an expert in the field of financial economics and financial derivatives. He holds a Ph.D. in engineering systems from Stanford University, a master’s of economics (economic statistics) from the University of New England (Australia), and a bachelor’s of science in engineering from the University of New Brunswick (Canada). He is employed as the James Irvin Miller Professor of Finance at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, where he teaches courses in the doctoral, executive, and MBA programs and has been a member of Stanford’s finance faculty since 1984. He teaches and conducts research in various subject areas, including the market valuation of securities, and he spends a significant portion of his teaching and research focusing on the market valuation and management of credit risk. He has consulted and written a multitude of articles and books on subjects related to financial derivative securities, fixed-income pricing, risk management, and credit risk. Sziklay was appointed by the Court as an expert in the field of fair market value and GAAP. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and economics from Queens College and is a certified public accountant in New York, New Jersey, and Florida.
