- 4 - until at least the time of the trial, petitioner worked as a research scientist for the University of Pennsylvania. At the time of the trial, her annual salary from the University of Pennsylvania was $115,000.4 As of that time, petitioner intended to retire in 2007. In 1964, Mr. Korchak began working for Halcon International, Inc. (Halcon). He worked for that company or one of its subsid- iaries until 1986 when Halcon and its subsidiaries ceased busi- ness operations. During the first few years Mr. Korchak worked for Halcon, he was involved in research and development. His duties included developing chemical processes and determining whether such processes were economically feasible. If, after a relatively short period of time, the processes that were being developed did not appear to be economically feasible, no further work was done with respect to such processes. During 1981, Mr. Korchak was president of Halcon Research and Development Corporation, a subsidiary of Halcon that was involved in research and development.
