Appeal No. 98-0806 Application No. 08/693,588 DECISION ON APPEAL Dennis R. Salazar (the appellant) appeals from the final rejection of claims 1-4, 6-9, 11-16, 18-21, 23 and 24, the only claims remaining in the application. We AFFIRM-IN-PART. The appellant's invention pertains to a method and apparatus for protecting a pipeline against damage resulting from excessive internal pressures (e.g., the pressures created by the freezing of an aqueous fluid within the pipeline). Independent claims 1 and 7 are further illustrative of the appealed subject matter and a copy thereof may be found in the appendix to the brief.
