Moreover, in evaluating such references it is proper to take into account not only the specific teachings of the references but also the inferences which one skilled in the art would reasonably be expected to draw therefrom. In re Preda, 401 F.2d 825, 826, 159 USPQ 342, 344 (CCPA 1968). With this as background, we analyze the prior art applied by the examiner in the rejection of the claims on appeal. Downey discloses an earth moving vehicle including a scraper for collecting rocky earth and other native material (Figure 2) to be carried upwardly by an endless paddle elevator (Figure 4) across a bar-type separating means (i.e., a grizzly) for separating the material into fines and larger aggregates or tailings.
