2. A photographic element having a layer comprising a silver halide
emulsion, a 1-aryl-4-aryloxy-2-pyrazolin-5-one magenta dye forming
coupler, and a separate sulfide, sulfoxide or sulfone compound, wherein the
magenta dye forming coupler has structure Ia or Ib, and the sulfide,
sulfoxide or sulfone compounds have structures VI, VII and VIII,
respectively:
wherein:
R1 is an aryl group;
R2 is an alkyl group, an acylamino group, an anilino group, a
carbamoyl group or an alkoxy group;
R3 is a substituent; and
n is an integer from 0 to 4;
