Interference No. 103,675 In a decision mailed on February 22, 1993, applicants' petition to withdraw the application from issue was granted and applicants' expressed intention to abandon their application was recognized. On the same date, a paper from the Office of the Assistant Commissioner for Patents to the Director of the Office of Publication and Dissemination was mailed to applicants indicating that: the application was to be withdrawn from issue; the issue fee was not to be refunded; and, an errata would be published in the March 9, 1993, Official Gazette with respect to the withdrawal of the application from issue. On March 10, 1993, a Notice of Abandonment acknowledging applicants' express abandonment of the application was mailed to applicants. CHEN APPLICATION SERIAL NUMBER 08/006,423 On January 19, 1993, and before their first filed application Serial Number 07/907,261 became abandoned, Chen et al. filed application Serial Number 08/006,423 as a continuation of their earlier filed application under the then current practice as a so- called "Rule 60" continuation. On the same date as the application was filed, Chen et al. filed two preliminary amendments to their continuing application.
