        Appeal No. 2006-0962                                  8
        Application No. 10/117,981

        suggestion for one of ordinary skill in the art to attempt to
        substitute the specially configured guiding grooves in Arbeus for
        the cutting/shredding grooves (50) present in Hartman.
        Moreover, given the apparent importance of the single spiral
        blade in the pump arrangement of Hartman (see, e.g., col. 1,
        lines 1-9), we do not see that it would have been obvious to one
        of ordinary skill in the art to replace the single spiral blade
        (42) with plural vanes as disclosed in the clearly different pump
        arrangement of Arbeus.

        In light of the foregoing, the rejection of independent claim
        15, and of claims 16 through 23 which depend therefrom, under
        35 U.S.C. § 103(a) will not be sustained. Thus, the decision of
        the examiner is reversed
                             REVERSED

                     CHARLES E. FRANKFORT )

                                              )
                                              ) BOARD OF PATENT
