Appeal 2007-2144 Application 10/147,015 STATEMENT OF THE CASE The subject matter on appeal is directed to applying a particular release coating having low adhesion on a pressure sensitive adhesive backing layer comprising a fibrous material (Specification 2-6). According to page 6 of the Specification, examples of polymers used for this particular release coating are described in U.S. Pat. Nos. 5,214,119 (Brandt et al.), 5,290,615 (Tushaus et al.), 5,461,134 (Leir et al.), and 5,512,650 (Leir et al.), and also European Pat No. 0 380 236 B1 (Leir). A particular example of a thermoplastic silicone- containing polymer is a solvent-borne silicone polyurea, an example of which is disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 5,512,650 (Leir et al.). Another particular example of a thermoplastic silicone- containing polymer is a water-borne or water-dispersible silicone polyurea, an example of which is disclosed in EP Pat. No. 0 380 236 B1 (Leir). This release coating allows a roll of tape to be unwound without the undesirable transfer of adhesive to the backing layer (Specification 1).
