Appeal 2007-2195 Application 10/172,166 1. A generant composition comprising: between about 25 and about 60 composition weight percent non-azide nitrogen-containing gas generating fuel; between about 10 and about 55 composition weight percent metal ammine nitrate oxidizer; between about 2 and about 10 composition weight percent metal oxide burn rate enhancing and slag formation additive; and between about 1 and about 20 composition weight percent potassium perchlorate gas generant additive. 34. The gas generant composition of claim 1 free of ammonium nitrate. The Examiner relies upon the following references as evidence of obviousness: Mendenhall US 6,077,372 Jun. 20, 2000 Taylor US 6,083,331 Jul. 4, 2000 Appellants’ claimed invention is directed to a gas generant composition comprising a non-azide nitrogen-containing gas generating fuel, a metal ammine nitrate oxidizer, a metal oxide, and potassium perchlorate gas as a generant additive. Claims 34-36 recite that the composition is free of ammonium nitrate. Appealed claims 34-36 stand rejected under 35 U.S.C. § 112, 1st ¶, description requirement.
