Appeal 2007-2863 Application 10/934,507 1 over 2, a total degree of unsaturation of less than 0.05 meq/g 2 and a number-average molecular weight of from 8000 to 20000, 3 [2] with a polyisocyanate compound, and 4 [B] a curing agent (ii) comprising as curing components 5 [1] a polyoxytetramethylene polyol (a) and 6 [2] a chain extender (b) having two active- 7 hydrogen-containing groups and having a number-average 8 molecular weight of not more than 500, 9 wherein a relation of hardness (H) by a type A durometer 10 defined by JIS K 6253 and a tensile strength (X) (MPa) defined 11 by JIS K 6251, of a polyurethane elastomer obtained by curing 12 the composition is represented by X>H/10. 13 14 English language copies of JIS K 6253 and JIS K 6251 did not appear 15 in the Evidence Appendix of the Appeal Brief. We understand JIS K 6253 16 to be a testing method, similar to an ASTM test, for measuring hardness. 17 We understand JIS K 6251 to be a testing method for measuring tensile 18 strength. We understand the formula X>H/10 to be saying that tensile 19 strength when measured by JIS K 6251 will be greater than 1/10 of hardness 20 when measured by JIS K 6253. 21 The active-hydrogen-containing groups of the chain extender can 22 be hydroxyl groups [―OH] or amino groups [―NH2].
